Discovery

The family Land Rover, positioned deliberately between Defender and Range Rover.

The Discovery launched in 1989 to fill a clear gap in the range: more comfortable and practical for family use than the Defender, more affordable than the Range Rover. Its distinctive stepped roofline was a practical design choice, adding rear headroom for a raised third-row seating area.

The smaller Discovery Sport arrived in 2014, extending the Discovery name into the compact SUV segment and sitting alongside the full-size Discovery rather than replacing anything in the existing range.
