Care Philosophy
Why JLR ownership is approached differently here than a generic 'car maintenance' page would.
A Jaguar and a Land Rover ask different things of an owner, because they were engineered around different priorities. A performance Jaguar rewards attention to the systems that keep its handling sharp — tires, brakes, suspension bushings — because that's the point of the car. A Land Rover built for genuine off-road use rewards regular inspection of the underside — driveline, differentials, chassis mounts — because that's where real off-road use actually shows wear.
Aluminum-bodied models (most modern Jaguars and Range Rovers) have real, specific implications for bodywork repair — aluminum can't simply be repaired with the same techniques or in the same body shops as steel, and using a shop unfamiliar with aluminum repair can cause lasting problems. This is worth knowing before an insurance claim forces the decision for you.
The throughline of this site's care philosophy: understand what your specific model was actually engineered to do, and maintain it in a way that respects that — rather than applying one generic maintenance checklist to every JLR product.
